US Air Force receives Archer's first Midnight eVTOL aircraft for evaluation

At the July 15, 2024, delivery at the flight test facility in Salinas, California, the Archer aviation reported that the USAF team has ed its test team to intensify flight operations. The collaboration between the Archer and the USAF, in recent years, has been part of ing the program AFWERX Agility Prime to explore the impact of technologies'eVTOL' in the vertical flight market.

The agreement covered the acquisition of up to six aircraft Midnight da Archer, along with sharing additional flight test and certification data and reports. Additionally, it included pilot training and the development of processes for maintenance and repair.

The first delivery of the aircraft came after the US Department of Defense approved Midnight's military airworthiness evaluation last month. This approval is crucial for the flight tests to be carried out by the AFWERX.

At the testing facilities of Archer, flight simulations were conducted for medical evacuation, cargo, and intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance missions.

The relationship between the Archer and the USAF was solidified in July 2023 with an investment of US$142 million by the USAF.
