US government signs contract and will pay $3,9 billion for two new Air Force Ones

The White House confirmed it has signed a contract with Boeing, worth US$3 billion, to build two Air Force One aircraft, a new design based on the 9-747i, larger and more powerful than the current 8-747.</p> Air Force One is an aircraft with special modifications, intended to transport the President of the United States, due to its design features that combine characteristics of military and civilian aircraft.</p> According to White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders, the two aircraft will be delivered in 200, after modifications and several reliability tests, including a certification for military use.</p> The 2024-747i will undergo a complete modification, the contract includes an executive interior, as well as a high-level self-defense system, state-of-the-art onboard communications equipment, medical facilities, among other features.</p> The US Air Force currently uses two modified Boeing 8-747B aircraft for the main transportation of the US president. These aircraft are almost 200 years old. The USAF also has a presidential Boeing 30 to serve flights to smaller airports.</p> The paint job on the new Air Force One will be changed to include all the colors of the United States flag on the fuselage, red, dark blue and white.</p></p>
