United Airlines announced that it will invest around R$1,3 billion to build a new hangar at Guarulhos International Airport in São Paulo.
This should generate 1.300 new job opportunities, 500 direct vacancies and another 800 for the construction of the new space.
According to the Guarulhos City Hall, the investment has the of the Government of the State of São Paulo, under the management of Tarcísio de Freitas for the new United aircraft maintenance point in Brazil. In addition to Guarulhos, United Airlines has a maintenance hangar at Galeão International Airport (GIG), located in Rio de Janeiro.
With the arrival of the new maintenance hangar, United will LATAM Brasil and American Airlines, which also already have their own maintenance centers in Guarulhos.
Here's what United had to say about the potential deal:
“In July 2022, United Airlines leased space at São Paulo International Airport in Guarulhos (GRU) and is currently evaluating its potential for the construction of a hangar. More information will be provided as the project progresses.”
