Viracopos Airport begins to receive Formula 1 equipment and cars

Cars and equipment for the 2023 São Paulo GP began arriving in the country on the afternoon of this Wednesday (25), 25/10, at Viracopos International Airport, in Campinas (SP), which is the event's official airport. In total, approximately 600 tons will be transported by eight Boeing aircraft, 4 B744 models, two B777 models and two B748.

The first flight, coming from the USA, landed in Viracopos in the early afternoon of this Wednesday (25/10), at 12:10 pm, marking the official start of the 21st consecutive disembarkation and embarkation operation of the entire cargo of the Brazilian Formula 1 GP by Viracopos.

In addition to this flight that arrived today, there will be seven more flights followed by the arrival of equipment at the Cargo Terminal on the 30th and 31/10. On this first flight, sound, image and lighting equipment arrived. The next seven flights will bring the teams' cars and other equipment. 

When the equipment leaves the country, there will also be eight flights, which will take off on 06/11, 07/11 and 08/11 to Abu Dhabi, capital of the United Arab Emirates.

Viracopos set up a special operation to speed up the process. The F1 cars and equipment will be transported in convoys of trailers to Interlagos. The first train, with the equipment from the first flight, headed this Wednesday afternoon (25/10) to the capital of São Paulo.

The entire operation involves at least 100 people from different areas of the airport, including public bodies, cargo agents, airlines and companies contracted for the transport and logistics of the operation. At least 100 trailer trips are planned to transport all the equipment and cars for the eight flights to São Paulo.
