Last Saturday (16), a tragic accident involving an Embraer EMB-110 Bandeirante from Manaus Aerotáxi occurred as the aircraft attempted to land at Barcelos airport (AM), around 400 km from Manaus, killing all 14 engers. occupants. The accident is considered the biggest in Brazil since 2011.

What is known so far is that at the time of the accident, it was raining heavily in the region. The plane ed under registration number PT-SOG had its documentation up to date and was fit to fly. The charter flight took off from Manaus airport around noon on Saturday and aimed to take sport fishing enthusiasts to a competition in the city of Barcelos. 

Videos and photos circulating on social media show the moment when one of the victims prepares to board the plane, it is possible to notice the euphoria and relaxation on the part of the engers hours before the accident with no survivors. 

 

 

 

According to information from Portal O Tempo, the accident is being investigated tly by the Civil Police of Amazonas (PCAM) and the Seventh Regional Service for the Investigation and Prevention of Aeronautical Accidents (SERIPA VII) to find out the causes of the accident.

Belonging to the company Manaus Aerotáxi, the Embraer EMB PT-SOG 110 Bandeirante is a twin-engine turboprop aircraft capable of carrying up to 18 engers. The aircraft can reach a maximum speed of 340 km/h and has a range of up to 1.700 km.

At the beginning of last year, Barcelos Airport completed modernization work on its structure with a new terminal, doubling in size compared to the previous structure. The total area of ​​the terminal went from just over 200 m² to almost 400 m², aiming for greater safety and comfort for engers. 

The FAB provided by sending a CASA -C295 plane, the multi-mission plane also served to transport experts, police officers and firefighters to rescue the bodies. 

According to the list of engers provided by Manaus Aerotáxi, the following were on the plane: Euri Paulo dos Santos, Fabio Campos Assis, Fabio Ribeiro, Gilcresio Salvador Medeiros, Guilherme Boaventura Rabelo, Hamilton Alves Reis, Heudes Freitas, Luiz Carlos Cavalcante Garcia, Marcos de Castro Zica Renato Souza de Assis, Roland Montenegro Costa, Witter Ferreira de Faria. The crew included pilot Leandro Costa Souza and co-pilot Fernando Luiz Galvão Bezerra Júnior.
