Wings of a Dream Museum will reopen with Santos Dumont themed exhibition

TAM Museum Wings of a Dream João Amaro

The Asas de um Sonho Museum will reopen its doors, now in Itu (94 km from SP) on August 10th, with the exhibition “Santos-Dumont – Aviation Pioneers”. On this occasion, it will be possible to see the unprecedented exhibition with a replica of the 14-Bis and the Demoiselle, as well as the historic São Paulo planes, developed by Dimitri de Lavaud, and the Blériot XI, by Louis Blériot. The Brazilian inventor's personal items will also be on display, such as glasses, gloves and hat, book, photographic negatives, watch and the iconic Panama hat. The exhibition is being organized in partnership with the Santos-Dumont Foundation.

In the future, the space will house part of the collection of more than one hundred aircraft, all historic, including the Lockheed Constellation and the Supermarine Spitfire, from the Second World War, as well as the Fokker F-2 and F-27, which were part of the TAM fleet.

The new museum is an initiative by businessman Marcos Amaro, who is an artist and manages FAMA, also in Itu, and is the son of commander Rolim, who founded TAM and the museum with his brother, João Amaro. Marcos Amaro is also an aviation entrepreneur, founder of Amaro Aviation, an aircraft sharing, fleet management and air taxi company.

The aircraft were displayed at the old TAM Museum, in São Carlos (SP). However, the place has been closed for over ten years. “I want to continue the dream of my father and uncle, who put together this incredible collection with a lot of effort and over many years”, comments Marcos Amaro. The museum will also feature several personal objects that belonged to Rolim and a space in honor of him.
