The aircraft registration number 20-2102 was ed yesterday (23). According to the Scramble magazineanother A-29B Super Tucano registration 20-2101 was also ed.

The portal also states that the USAF has acquired three Super Tucanos and that the models will be ed on to the 6th Special Operations Squadron based in Duke Field, Florida.

The A-29s are assembled in the USA by Sierra Nevada Corporation, an Embraer partner. The aircraft will be used in the USAF's Combat Aviation Advisor (CAA) program.

Servicemen in this program train and advise US military partners. This type of mission goes beyond basic training, as CAA receive authorization to fly and fight in partner country aircraft.

“We integrate, we incorporate. We live in your squadron. Our approach is enduring and integrated to ensure they really incorporate this technique, mission or equipment into how they do business.” Lt. Col. Steve Hreczkosij, deputy director of air advisory operations for USAF Special Operations Command, told the Military.com.

Recently the USAF received its first AT-6E Wolverine, a direct competitor to the Brazilian Super Tucano. The aircraft will be used in the development of the AEROnet project.

The AT-6E received a livery reminiscent of the Europe One scheme, again in a " the past" way.

Apparently, the paintwork of the USAF A-29B is inspired by the same one applied to the P-51A Mustangs of the 1st Air Commando Group, which operated in Burma (now Myanmar) during World War II.

Image via social networks.

The group has its origins in the 5318th Provisional Air Unit. The 1st Air Commando Group carried out and air cover missions for the Chindits, special operations units of the Indian and British armies that operated mostly behind enemy lines, fighting against Japan.

The 6th Special Operations Squadron was created in World War II as the 6th Fighter Squadron, Commando, reporting directly to the 1st Air Commando Group.

This shows that, in addition to being beautiful, the painting applied to the A-29B Super Tucano carries an entire historical lineage with it.
