Early this Wednesday morning, Recife airport (REC) received an unexpected visit from an Airbus A350-900 registration D-AIXE. The plane was on flight LH501 between Galeão (GIG) and Munich (MUC) airports. The aircraft landed around 1 am.
Sources close to the matter reported that a enger fell ill. It is the second unscheduled landing by Lufthansa in the Northeast in just over two weeks, when a Boeing 747-8 from the German company landed in Christmas due to a medical emergency on the 27th of June. It is the first time that a Lufthansa A350 lands in Recife.
The Recife airport managed by Aena has an infrastructure to handle large aircraft, especially in cases of unscheduled landings.
