The Chamber of Deputies approved on Wednesday night (13) the opinion of deputy Arnaldo Jardim (Cidadania-SP) for the Future Fuel Bill. The matter, whose objective is to contribute to the energy transition and decarbonization, creates national programs for sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), green diesel and biomethane, in addition to dealing with the increase in the mixture of ethanol and biodiesel in gasoline and diesel.
In relation to SAF, the Brazilian Association of Airlines (ABEAR) celebrates the maintenance of the guidelines that were created by the ProbioQAV Committee, a forum created by the Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME) and which had broad participation from the sector. In the Chamber of Deputies, ABEAR maintained frequent dialogue with the project's rapporteur, reinforcing its defense points and celebrating this Wednesday's result.
“Sustainability and compliance with CO² emission reduction targets in the airline sector are ABEAR's flags, and the approval of the Future Fuel PL by the Chamber is an important step towards achieving these results. Brazil has the conditions to take a leading role in the production of SAF, leading the energy transition on the global stage. ABEAR will continue to closely monitor the PL's progress in the Federal Senate”, points out the association's president, Jurema Monteiro.
