Aeromexico declared last night (30/06) that it has legally requested the company's inclusion in the US Bankruptcy Law (Chapter 11), as well as Avianca Holdings and Grupo LATAM, other companies in Latin America.
According to the company, the flights and the service remain the same, even with the company's Judicial Recovery. The process will be carried out to guarantee the payment of creditors, in this crisis that the company is facing.
“The Company and certain of its s today filed a voluntary proceeding under Chapter 11 in the United States. We will continue to operate as long as we are under the procedure. We will offer the same quality service to our customers.”
“Our industry faces challenges we've never seen before due to an incredible reduction in enger demand around the world. We are committed to taking the necessary steps to operate continuously and efficiently under this new reality.” said Aeromexico CEO Andres Conesa.
Aeromexico was already in a fragile financial situation before the crisis, with several quarters in a row working at a loss. The company does not rule out receiving state financial aid or taking out loans.
On the other hand, Aeromexico has a fleet of 68 aircraft, and does not rule out structural modifications to maintain operational efficiency.
