The Nella Airlines Group is managed by Maurício Souza, who acquired the Bolivian company in 2021 with promises of investment and boosting Amaszonas, generating new jobs in addition to helping the economy.

The political situation in Bolivia made it difficult and the company, which was already going through delicate moments after the pandemic, was unable to have the cash flow to pay off all its debts. During this period there were also accusations of government favoring Boliviana de Aviación (BoA).

The height of Amaszonas' problems under the management of Nella Airlines was in August, when a US$15 million debt was charged in a lawsuit by the leasing company GY Aviation Lease for the Embraer 190 jets. Subsequently, the four planes had their registrations suspended by General Directorate of Civil Aeronautics of Bolivia.
