After more than 30 years, Viracopos International Airport, in Campinas, will once again receive a flight originating in Paris. This Thursday (05/07), in partnership with the French airline Aigle Azur, Azul begins regular operations connecting the city in the interior of São Paulo to one of the most visited destinations in the world.

The inaugural flight took off from the Parisian capital this morning and should arrive in Campinas at the end of the afternoon. The reverse operation will depart at 19:15 pm Brasilia time.

The opening of the new route is the result of a codeshare agreement between Aigle Azur and Azul. The agreement provides for both companies to sell tickets through their respective sales channels, in addition to offering customers facilities such as issuing a single boarding and dispatching luggage to the final destination.

Hub in Campinas will feed Aigle Azur flights to Paris.

Aigle Azul flights are based at Orly airport, in Paris, the closest to the city center, and will be operated with Airbus A330-200 aircraft, with capacity for 46 engers in business class and 268 in economy and Economy.

Azul's Revenue Vice-President, Abhi Shah, points out that the frequencies to Paris will expand the company's connectivity in Viracopos, which will provide greater convenience to the company's customers.

“We are very excited about this operation, which is sure to be a success. Now, more Brazilians will have the opportunity to get to know one of the most famous cities in the world, in addition to uniquely connecting those arriving in Brazil through Campinas. This is certainly a major milestone in the growth of Viracopos, our main hub, which is the largest domestic connection center in of number of direct destinations in Latin America. Our TudoAzul customers and those of our tour operator Azul Viagens will also have greater convenience with this new destination”, emphasizes Shah.

David Neeleman has a 32% stake in this company, after buying the part that belonged to the Weaving Group in November 2017. In addition to Neeleman, a partner group also owns a large part of Aigle Azur, the NHA Group is already known for having a stake in Azul and TAP, and currently owns 48% of the French company.

The beginning of the market between Campinas and Paris will have three weekly flights. As of September 07th, companies will operate four flights a week, on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays.
