This Saturday, 12/09, the Air Saturday promoted by the FAB took place at the Brasília Air Base present at the Brasília airport. The event took place from 9:17 am to 30:40 pm and had around 105 people present throughout the day. During the day we had exhibitions of Brazilian Air Force (FAB) aircraft, such as the C-95 Amazonas, C-1 Bandeirante, as well as A-5, F-29M and A-190 Super Tucano fighters, in addition to the already known GTE fighters. (Grupo de Transportes Especiais), the E-1000 (Lineage 319), the A145 (known as the presidential aircraft), several government transport ERJ 120s, the EMB 4 Brasília which made XNUMX scenic flights during the day.

Among other aircraft there were flight schools and flying clubs that operate close to Brasília, a highlight being the Zarapa that the Aeroclube de Brasília uses, an aircraft that has already been used for basic training in the FAB. Another highlight was the brand new Embraer Legacy 450, the current aircraft of the most technologically advanced line of executives along with the Legacy 500. And right at the entrance to the hangar that gives access to the patios, the highlight of the entire party and the subject of several photos, the Mockup of the Gripen NG, the new fighter that will make up the FAB fleet in a few years, and really, due to its size, the operational capacity it carries is impressive. The multi-mission combat model is capable of performing all missions in the air and on the ground, including specialized intelligence tasks, surveillance, target interception and reconnaissance, and electronic warfare actions.
For visitation, the Mirage 2000 aircraft retired in 2013 by the FAB, the C-130 and the CASA C-295, were available.

The great presence of the public was already guaranteed in the first minutes of the day, increasing with each ing hour and forming long queues for visits by aircraft. In order to accommodate this number of people, a huge sale of soft drinks and water was set up, the prices were in line with the size of the event and there were no long queues to buy something. Showing once again that the FAB put on a show in organizing everything that happened.

Of course, there were air shows throughout the day, right at the beginning there was a low age (several actually) of the T-27 before it landed and took its position on the patio and around 10 am the highlight was the super noisy arrival As always with the AMX and F-5, a large crowd formed in front of the aircraft to hear the immense noise coming from the engines still running on the ground. There are 3 skydiving sections, two low drop and one high drop, about 8 to 9 thousand feet from the ground already entering the dense cloud layer. A little earlier, at almost 11 am, the serious noise coming from the engines of the C-130 Hércules welcomed the aircraft to the event and soon after opened visitation, sharing with the Casa C-295 the queue present to visit.
In the afternoon, the highlight was the rapid and torrential rain, as is usually the case in Brasilia, and also with the punctual presentation of the Textor Squadron, making a great presentation with narration by Vadico, the voice of air shows in Brazil, putting smoke in the the already beautiful sky in Brasilia at dusk, in fact the Textor Squadron aircraft are very different from normal, we have The Cozy which has the wing and engine moved to the rear in addition to canards on the nose of the aircraft, the Pitts S2X which is a biplane -flat and immense engine capacity, and the Slick 540 already well known for its aerobatic configurations. In addition, in a separate hangar, there were exhibitions of classic and antique cars, including a presidential Ford Landau, a luxury of yesteryear. In addition, there was an exhibition of some military equipment used in combat and war missions and throughout the day there was a show with the Banda Clave de FAB. Inside the main hangar there were stands that aimed to better demonstrate the work of the FAB in several areas, including Cindacta and Cenipa, other stands sold items from the Air Force and the Smoke Squadron, in addition to several other institutions present at the event. The Brasília Fire Department made a rescue presentation using an Esquilo helicopter for the demonstration, in addition to a complete show of acrobatics with the aeromodelling staff.

“During most of the year, the barracks are closed to visitors for security reasons, but it is important that the community gets to know our work. This is an opportunity for us to clarify and show the innovations that are being carried out”, emphasizes Antônio Palmela, lieutenant colonel of the Brazilian Air Force.
We leave here our thanks to the Brazilian Air Force for the excellent event and for all its organizing team for the assistance offered during the event. We hope to return soon next year.
