The “rookie” Air Montenegro will soon add another Embraer E195 aircraft to its fleet. The aircraft was previously operating with Montenegro Airlines, which closed its doors during the pandemic, and belongs to BNDES who leased the plane.
With this aircraft, Air Montenegro will have three Embraer E195 aircraft, literally its fleet where it plans to resume flights now as a state-owned company. The purchase was authorized by the Government of Montenegro, which will also guarantee payment for the left engine of the aircraft.
Air Montenegro's focus now is on expanding the fleet to take advantage of the European summer period.
Previously, the Government of Montenegro decided to purchase two Embraer E195 aircraft that operated on Montenegro Airlines, company that recently ended its operations. The planes were leased by the airline through GECAS, which sold the aircraft for a total of US$21,8 million.
Montenegro Airlines fleet consisted of 4 planes: 3 Embraer E195 and a Fokker F100. All operated by lease.
