With the Boeing crisis related to the 737 MAX, Airbus managed to open a large advantage in aircraft deliveries, despite the highest annual target of the American manufacturer.

In data presented this Tuesday (09/07) by Airbus, the manufacturer confirmed that it delivered 389 aircraft in the 1st half of 2019, the same amount presented in a publication by Portal Aeroflap last Sunday (07/07).

Airbus aircraft deliveries were up around 28% in the first half, compared to the same period in 2018. While the European aircraft manufacturer delivered something around 390 aircraft, its main competitor, Boeing, delivered just 239 planes in the same period.

With that number, Airbus is already a great candidate to sur Boeing's deliveries in 2019, after a crisis with the American manufacturer. Boeing's target is to deliver around 915 planes in 2019, while Airbus' target is to deliver 880 planes in the same period.

With a larger family of aircraft, growing demand for A320 family aircraft and the natural increase in production, Airbus is expected to return to the position of largest manufacturer of commercial aircraft, a market that Boeing has dominated since 2011.

It is quite possible that Boeing will not be able to meet the delivery target if the stoppage of flights with the 737 MAX continues until October, or later.

Airbus s a backlog of firm orders for 7276 aircraft. In the 1st half, Airbus delivered 21 A220 aircraft, 294 of the A320 family, 53 A350s, 17 A330s and four A380s.
