The Airbus Foundation and Helibras awarded nine students from the Municipal School Isaura Pereira dos Santos, in Itajubá, in the State of Minas Gerais, for having won the Flying Challenge youth development program. Children and their families had the unique experience of 'flying' in the H225M helicopter flight simulator.
The launch of the Flying Challenge in Brazil reached more than 60 fifth grade students and involved 25 volunteers from Helibras and Airbus Brasil. The program provided students with mentoring and academic assistance in math, Portuguese, and behavioral lectures. The initiative included activities at Helibras and a drone workshop at the Federal University of Itajubá in partnership with AeroFrog.
The Flying Challenge program is an Airbus Foundation initiative aimed at building students' confidence and inspiring them to explore careers in the aerospace industry. It has already benefited more than 4.814 children and adolescents in six countries.
“We are very proud of the results of the first edition of the Flying Challenge in Brazil and happy to contribute to the education of these children. Their development was noticeable and highly praised by parents and teachers.”, said Richard Marelli, president of Helibras and Head of Country for Airbus in Brazil.
