The Minas Gerais Military Fire Brigade (CBMMG) signed a purchase agreement with Airbus-Helibras for two H145 helicopters fully equipped for the Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS).
The two H145s will be operated by the Air Operations Battalion (BOA) in emergency medical services (HEMS) and search and rescue (SAR) missions in the state. These are the first public service HEMS H145s to operate in primary and secondary missions in Brazil.
The medical setup will be provided by Air Ambulance Technology and will include three oxygen cylinders; a lung ventilator, two infusion pumps; a cardiodefibrator with a multiparameter monitor, two stretchers for transporting adult or pediatric patients, and a neonatal incubator, when configured for neonatal transport.
“Brazil deserves to have first class helicopter emergency medical services to protect its population. This contract demonstrates the growing national interest in providing this unparalleled assistance, and Airbus I Helibras, the only helicopter manufacturer in Brazil, wants to the authorities in the development of these essential services.”, says the president of Airbus I Helibras, Jean-Luc Alfonsi.
In addition to the renowned operational and safety efficiencies that make the H145 a commercial success worldwide, the five-bladed version offers an additional 150kg of payload and lower vibration levels.
The new design of the main rotor, without bearings, in addition to facilitating maintenance, guarantees greater comfort in flight, an important factor for this type of operation. In addition, the great differential of the H145, combined with the new aeromedical schemes, allows the medical team to assist the patient with equipment for intensive care, or to transport them to a hospital more quickly.
There are around 500 helicopters of the H145 family performing emergency response missions around the world. In total, there are more than 1.600 helicopters of the H145 family in service, with more than seven million flight hours. Its especially low acoustic footprint makes the H145 the quietest helicopter in its class, while its CO2 emissions are the lowest among its competitors.
