The higher MTOW version allows a maximum takeoff weight of 251 tons, which makes it possible to increase the range of the aircraft when configured with an interior with a higher density of seats.

With 251 tons of MTOW, the aircraft can fly 13330 km, even with 440 engers on board, as in the configuration of Air Asia X, the airline that launched this aircraft.

AirAsia X contains an order book for 77 A330-900neo aircraft.

The current version of the A330-900 has an MTOW of 230 tonnes as standard, but Airbus offers versions with an MTOW of up to 242 tonnes.
