Companies of the Brazilian Association of Airlines (ABEAR) completed today (23/04) the announcement of 401 new flights from the State of São Paulo to different states of the country, as part of the commitment assumed with the state government after the reduction of the rate of the Tax on Circulation of Goods and Services (ICMS) on aircraft fuel from 25% to 12%, a measure that should come into effect on June 1st.
As a result, AZUL, GOL, LATAM and AREDO anticipated 81% of the new network planned for the end of this year, with a total of 490 new frequencies to 38 cities in 21 states. In addition, the companies announced the six new destinations within the state of São Paulo: Barretos, Franca, Guarujá, Araraquara, Votuporanga and São Carlos.
“Today we are completing the launch of 401 new flights from the State of São Paulo, anticipating 81% of the agreed target after the reduction of ICMS on aircraft fuel, to show that it is possible to make aviation grow from a decision that contributes to the economic development not only of São Paulo, but of the whole country”, said the president of ABEAR, Eduardo Sanovicz.
AREDO launched today 62 weekly operations from the state of São Paulo, including two new destinations: Votuporanga and São Carlos. The announcement was made during a ceremony at the Palácio dos Bandeirantes, seat of the state government.
On April 18, AZUL announced 200 new flights and operations to Guarujá and Araraquara. On April 11, LATAM launched 78 frequencies. On March 28, GOL announced 61 new operations and two new locations, Barretos and Franca.
“We are betting on a virtuous circle: reducing taxes and thereby generating more revenue from economic activity. We have no doubt that this will happen.”, said the deputy governor of São Paulo, Rodrigo Garcia.
Also present at the event were the state secretary of Tourism of São Paulo, Vinicius Lummertz, and the president of aredo, José Luiz Felicio Filho, among other authorities and representatives of Tourism.
