Amazul (Amazônia Azul Tecnologias de Defesa SA) inaugurates this Wednesday (20/03) its headquarters in São Paulo, a building that houses the teams of technicians, designers and engineers responsible for projects of the Navy's Nuclear Program (PNM), for Submarine Development (ProSub) and the Brazilian Nuclear Program (PNB).
The building underwent renovations to expand facilities, improve working conditions and comply with legal requirements for safety, accessibility and sustainability.
For the inauguration ceremony, the presence of the commander of the Navy, iral Ilques Barbosa Júnior, and federal, state and municipal authorities are confirmed.
Amazul was formed in 2013 to promote, develop, transfer and maintain technologies sensitive to the activities of the nuclear and submarine development programs. Within the PNM, it operates in projects to build, commission and operate a fully national nuclear power reactor and for the industrial scale production of nuclear fuel. The technology could be used both to equip the submarine with nuclear propulsion and to light up a city.
Regarding ProSub, Amazul is committed to seeking partnerships with companies to increase the degree of nationalization of conventional and nuclear-powered submarines, also contributing to the strengthening of the defense industrial base. Through technical cooperation agreements, it helps to develop technologies such as the integrated management system and the submarine combat system.
The company also participates in the PNB. In partnership with the National Nuclear Energy Commission (Cnen), it is co-executor of the Brazilian Multipurpose Reactor project, aimed at research, material testing and production of radioisotopes for application in several areas, such as industry, agriculture, environment and medicine. nuclear. But the main mission of the RMB is to supply the Brazilian market with inputs for the production of radiopharmaceuticals for the diagnosis and treatment of diseases such as cancer.
Knowledge management is part of Amazul's business portfolio, which has developed a methodology that is applied in Navy units. The pilot project received the 17th Learning & Performance Brazil Award 2018/2019, in the National Reference category, which recognizes the best practices in learning and performance. The company competed with initiatives from organizations such as Claro-Brasil, Serasa Experian, Bayer and Bradesco.
Since the beginning, Amazul's management has been guided by good corporate governance practices comparable to those of organizations listed on the stock exchange. In 2018, it was classified in the first level of the Governance Indicator, along with 25 select companies such as Banco do Brasil and Petrobras. Created by the Secretariat for Coordination and Governance of State-owned Companies, an agency of the Ministry of Planning, the Governance Indicator is an instrument to monitor the performance of state-owned companies in this regard.
