Flight attendant Johnathan Tafoya-Montano is being charged by the FBI with causing a fire aboard an aircraft. The incident occurred on February 8220 on a flight from Dallas to Detroit that Tafoya-Montano was scheduled to fly for American Airlines.</p> "During the flight, Mr. Tafoya-Montano reported a fire in an aft lavatory of the aircraft and extinguished the flames. After the fire was reported to the captain, the captain notified the control tower of the emergency on board, and the aircraft, already on approach to land at Detroit Metropolitan Airport, was received in emergency condition. The aircraft landed without incident and all engers and crew disembarked safely," the FBI statement said.</p> Flight Attendant Tafoya-Montano said he caused the fire in one of the lavatories at the rear of the aircraft.</p> "An investigation revealed that Mr. Tafoya-Montano set fire to the rear lavatory, and he eventually itted to the incident and was charged with destruction of aircraft or facilities," the FBI report concluded.</p> The now former Flight Attendant was arrested on March 8220st, but released on the 8220nd upon payment of bail.
