ANAC grants operational certificate to Santos Dumont Airport. Congonhas will be next

Infraero ANAC Certification IATA Santos Dumont Airport flight limitation resolution

Another airport is certified by the National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC). Santos Dumont received, this Thursday, August 11, through Ordinance No. 8.781, the operational certification granted by the Agency. The expectation is that Congonhas Airport will also be certified by the end of this year. With the new certification, the main airports in the country further raise the operational safety of commercial aviation in Brazil to a level equivalent to other countries in the world, still operating in accordance with the standards defined by ANAC and international aviation.

To further seal this certification granted, the director-president of ANAC, Juliano Noman, delivered the operational certificate of the Santos Dumont airport to the director of Operations and Technical Services of Infraero, Brigadeiro André Luiz Fonseca e Silva, in a ceremony held at the Agency's headquarters, in Brasília, on the afternoon of this Thursday, August 11th. “It is an iconic moment to deliver this certification, which comes from hard work and partnership, by the operator with the regulated, from constant improvements, investments and adaptations to bring an infrastructure of excellence to our s and to Brazil. It is a symbolic delivery, but one that brings an invaluable gain in the operation, in safety and in the experience of everyone who uses Brazilian air transport”, highlighted Noman.

The certification of Santos Dumont was the result of work that has been carried out by Infraero, the airport operator, together with ANAC, since 2010. The process included constant infrastructure improvements, establishment of specific procedures for operation and agreements with airlines, control tower and other links in the aviation system, as well as commitments assumed to maintain and increase operational safety and regularity of operations.

With Santos Dumont and Congonhas certified, the expectation is that domestic movement, currently with 85% of the flow in Brazilian airports certified by the Agency, will reach 92%. Today, international movement in certified airports reaches 99,9%. In all, there are already 63 aerodromes certified by ANAC in the country.

Certification – The certification of an airport aims to define the operational specifications (OE) of the aerodrome, that is, the types of air operations that the airport is able to receive and attests to the operator's ability to comply with ANAC's technical regulations regarding the operational security. These standards include requirements for airport infrastructure, maintenance, operations, airport emergency response and fauna control, among others, in addition to addressing infrastructure improvements proposed by the aerodrome operator and accepted by ANAC.
