Based on the National Cybersecurity Strategy (E-Ciber), the exercise aimed to increase cybernetic protection of Critical Infrastructures (CI) of interest to National Defense in the following areas: energy, finance, nuclear, transport, water, defense and communications.

EGC 4.0 is an activity that involves cybernetic protection, through the collaborative action of the Armed Forces, partner agencies and the CIs of the mentioned sectors. Techniques of virtual and constructive simulations were adopted, an exercise of the type tabletop.

The virtual activity used a cybernetic operations simulator, in which computational systems used by specialists from participating agencies and companies were reproduced.

The constructive simulation employed crisis offices in the areas of information technology, social communication, legal and senior management of public and private companies, which presented solutions for cybernetic events with an impact on organizations. Discussions in the crisis offices demanded actions at the decision-making/managerial (crisis management) and technical (incident response) levels.

The exercise was attended by representatives of various bodies, institutions and companies, such as the Institutional Security Office of the Presidency of the Republic (GSI/PR), Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Justice and Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Armed forces; companies in the energy, financial, nuclear, transport, water and communications sectors and their respective regulatory bodies, international observers and the academic community.

Participants acted in a collaborative and integrated manner in efforts aimed at preventing and resolving incidents involving information assets of relevance to National Defense.

Through the exercise, the Cyber Defense Command (ComDCiber) sought to contribute to the integration between the private sector, the public sector and academia in increasing the protection of the national cyber space.
