National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC) sympathizes with the victims and families of the tragedy that occurred on the north coast of the State of São Paulo, as a result of heavy rains since last Sunday, February 19, especially in the municipality of São Sebastião.
The Agency s the transport of cargo by aircraft, on a humanitarian basis, to care for victims in the most affected and difficult to access places, as well as the supply of supplies and medical inputs.
For this, it comes into force from this Friday, February 24, Ordinance No. 10.592 of February 23, 2023, valid for 60 days, relating to the transport of cargo in the enger cabin by air taxi companies, a transport service carried out by rental aircraft, to provide assistance to the regions affected by the heavy rains. This same authorization was given by the Agency in the face of the covid-19 pandemic, in March 2020.
The measure aims to complement the actions that are already being carried out by the federal government and by the government of the State of São Paulo of continuous assistance to the displaced and homeless in the affected municipalities, especially São Sebastião, which declared a state of public calamity. Currently, around 210 companies are certified by ANAC to provide air taxi services.
It should be noted that private aircraft can also transport engers and cargo, in accordance with the rules already established in the Brazilian Civil Aviation Regulation (RBAC) nº 91.
