One more for the desert: Azul returns Airbus A330 with special paint

Azul Linhas Aéreas continues with the process of renewing its long-haul fleet, the company returned another Airbus A330 last weekend.

The Airbus A330-200 registration PR-AIT was sent to Marana International Airport (MZJ) in the USA, an airport dedicated to the long-term storage of aircraft in the desert. The location is the same as the other Azul A330 shipped last week.

The return of the older Airbus A330 will be for the arrival of the new Airbus A330neo, which the company ordered three more planes in November last year. So far, it is not known when they should start arriving for Azul.

The PR-AIT is an Airbus A330 with just over 20 years of use, having been originally delivered to MEA, Lebanon's airline in 2003. The plane still ed by Gulf Air and also by Turkish Airlines before arriving at Azul in June 2015.

The aircraft received a special painting in reference to the company's loyalty program, TudoAzul, and was even named 'Big Blue Bus'. Now, the former Airbus A330 from Azul Linhas Aéreas will keep company with the other plane also stocked in Marana (MZJ), the former PR-AIX.

The plane arrived in Marana (MZJ) at around 16:01 pm (local time), after making a technical stopover at Orlando International Airport.
