O Government of Argentina acquired RNS 70 NG short-range anti-aircraft missiles from the Swedish Saab. The new weapons will be distributed among the Army, Navy and Air Force.
The Argentine Navy has been using the RBS 70 since 1984 and is now acquiring the newest version of the short range defense missiles. The contract provides for further expansion of the use of the RBS 70 NG system in the country for the Air Force and the Army. The RBS 70 NG systems, training simulators and missiles delivered will therefore be used by the Army, Navy and Air Force.
“We hope to further strengthen the air defense of the Argentine Armed Forces. With this capability, they will have the most modern short-range air defense system on the market, with uninterrupted laser guidance and integrated night vision”, says Görgen Johansson, head of Saab's Dynamics business area.
The RBS 70 NG is the latest iteration of Saab's short range ground air defense system. With this order, five nations signed contracts for the RBS 70 NG, including the Czech Republic, Brazil and Sweden.
