The AT-6E Wolverine attack and surveillance turboprop has obtained the Military Type Certificate (MTC) from the US Air Force (USAF). The achievement was announced on Monday (25) by the manufacturer Beechcraft, part of the Textron group.
Obtaining the MTC allows the aircraft to be exported through the Foreign Military Sales Program, funded by the US government, or in the process of direct commercial sales. The AT-6E is a direct competitor to Embraer's A-29 Super Tucano. Both are in service with the US Air Force, with the Brazilian model serving in a special operations squadron.

“Achieving Military Type Certification for the AT-6E is the culmination of a multi-year process and a significant achievement for our team, opening the door for allies around the world to welcome the AT-6 into their fleets,” said Thomas Hammoor, President and CEO of Textron Aviation Defense LLC.
“We are grateful to our employees across the organization for the work they have done to reach this vital milestone, and we remain committed to equipping warfighters and peacekeepers around the world with the most capable integrated weapon system in its class – the Beechcraft AT- 6E Wolverine.”
