The Colombian airline, Avianca, will introduce its new chief executive next month, probably to be announced in the first two weeks of December. The new selection has 28 candidates listed and this week it will be reduced to just five. German Efromovich did not say anything about the characteristics he expects or that the candidates have, nor which names were presented, but he will not require previous experience in an airline.
The current chief executive, Villegas Ramírez, announced in July that his departure from the airline would be completed by the end of this year. The current chief executive was selected in 2005 for Avianca's financial recovery team, shortly after the purchase of the company by the brothers German and José Efromovich, he has already been carrying out work in his position for more than a decade. German said he may stay longer in his current role to integrate the new team.
