From now on, pilots and flight attendants BLUE they can wear ear and eyebrow piercings, show off their tattoos on their arms and legs, and vary their hair styles – from colors to hairstyles. The company, following safety rules, listened to suggestions from aeronauts for the creation of a new manual for uniforms and personal presentation.
“The uniform of pilots and flight attendants makes up the flight experience of Crew and Customers, in addition to being designed taking into issues related to safety. We understand that some changes, suggested by the aeronauts themselves, could be incorporated to make the team’s day to day more comfortable, respecting the style and personality of each one”, explains Daniel Tkacz, Vice President of Operations at Azul.
With this, pilots and flight attendants can be more daring in their personal styles, which also includes more options for makeup, nail polish, hair colors and hairstyles, both for women and for men – who will even be able to wear long hair tied up in a samurai bun or Ponytail.
The new rules, in addition to being more modern, are also better aligned with the Brazilian reality. Now, when boarding domestic flights, the use of a blazer by flight attendants has become optional – before, use was required during boarding and disembarking.
The team working at the airports also had their style updated, prioritizing day-to-day comfort on the ground. Among the main changes, the use of sneakers is now allowed, as well as accessories – including piercings – and tattoos on display. The use of a scarf, an accessory that is part of the uniform, became optional, prioritizing the comfort and safety of the Crew Member.
“For the Airports team, the changes were designed to bring more comfort, always prioritizing safety. The personal presentation, both of the aeronauts and the ground team, is part of what Azul is and we want all our Crew to feel good to perform their function in the best possible way”, says Jason Ward, Vice President of People and Customers at BLUE.
In addition to the changes already put into practice, a committee was created to constantly analyze new possibilities to make the personal presentation guidelines more pleasant and comfortable for the teams involved.
