This Tuesday (23), the secretary of Infrastructure and Water Resources of Pernambuco, Fernandha Batista, received the adviser to the presidency of Azul Linhas Aéreas, Ronaldo Veras, to discuss the start of commercial operations at the airports of Garanhuns, in Agreste Meridional, and Araripina, in the Sertão do Araripe.
The goal of the state istration is that, still this year, there will be regular flights in both terminals. The executive secretary of Transport, Conceição Lafaiete, the president of Empetur, Antonio Baptista, as well as other executives from the state istration and Azul, also participated in the meeting.
The goal is for airports to have all the technical capacity to meet the criteria set by regulatory bodies and the airline to enable regular operations as quickly as possible. In this sense, during the meeting, the ongoing actions in the two equipment, which are currently undergoing restructuring works, were detailed. The investment amounts to more than R$ 6,5 million.
In Araripina, in October 2021, the first stage of the terminal requalification works was completed, where services were carried out to restore the pavement and horizontal signaling of the aircraft movement area (runway and takeoff, taxiway and apron); with a contribution of R$ 3 million.
The implementation of a enger terminal in container is also foreseen, in the amount of R$ 444 thousand. At the moment, the concrete base for the installation of the TPS is being contracted, as well as the company for the execution of the operational and property security wall. It is worth mentioning that the last intervention in the terminal dates back to 1997.
Garanhuns Airport, in turn, started the restoration and horizontal painting service of the runway system, with resources in the order of R$ 2,5 million. At the moment, the renovation of the terminal is also being carried out, in the amount of R$ 609 thousand.
