The first city to the airline's network, which already operates in more than 150 destinations in Brazil and abroad, was São Benedito, yesterday, Monday, the 7th. This Tuesday, the 8th, it will be Iguatu's turn and on Wednesday the 9th, operations begin in the cities of Crateús and Sobral.

In this way, Azul's operations increase in eight bases in Ceará, including the destinations of Aracati-Canoa Quebrada, Jericoacoara, Juazeiro do Norte, in addition to Fortaleza.

The flights will be carried out through Azul Conecta, with Cessna Grand Caravan aircraft, which have the capacity to carry up to nine engers, and will have direct connections with the capital of Ceará.

The press conference to launch the new routes took place at Fortaleza International Airport and was attended by executives from Azul and Fraport Brasil, the airport manager, as well as representatives of the state government and other local authorities. According to Azul's institutional relations manager, César Grandolfo, expanding operations in the state of Ceará denotes the importance that the region has for promoting national tourism.

“These flights are the result of Azul's work in partnership with the State Government, which seeks to develop aviation in the northeastern region. Flights like these bring more economic and social development to the state, in addition to generating more jobs and income. The northeastern region is one of the most popular destinations for those planning to spend unforgettable moments of leisure, whether with the family or even alone, and the diversity of connections that Azul has makes it possible for new places to enter the travelers’ itinerary”, said.

The manager of Airport Programs and Operations at the Public Works Superintendence (SOP), Marcus Pacobahyba, highlighted the planned investments for the state's regional airports.

“Among the investments planned for the airports managed by SOP is the installation of the PAPI – Approach Trajectory Precision Indicator, which is a navigation aid instrument that allows the pilot to have a perfect landing ramp during the night, improving the operational safety of flights. These improvements are being carried out at our airports so that in the near future we can raise the number of larger aircraft, providing a greater volume of flights and engers in these regions”He says.
