Azul transports medical help for children to Amapá

In addition to transporting millions of doses of vaccines and supplies since the beginning of the pandemic and ing various NGOs across the country, Azul Cargo Express, Azul's logistics unit, s Expedição Saúde on a mission that, since morning this last Friday (16th), transports kits for eye care to more than 300 children in the Bailique Archipelago, 180 kilometers from the capital Macapá.

The region has been experiencing great difficulties due to erosions that destroy houses, schools, the electricity grid and one of the main economic activities in the region: fishing.

The company carries out this mission together with Expedição Saúde, an NGO that, since 2016, has the objective of bringing visual health to communities with difficult access to this resource.

For this, more than 60 screening kits, containing auto refractors, columns, greens refractors, lensometers, optotype tables, portable slit lamps and prescriptions, boarded a Azul Cargo Express flight departing from Campinas, in São Paulo, around at 8 am this Friday.

Upon landing in the capital Macapá, the mission agents will take boats to cross a river for 15 hours and thus reach the community.

This equipment will ophthalmological examinations in children aged 6 to 12 years and will determine whether or not they need to wear glasses, which will also be donated through a partnership between Expedição Saúde and another private company.

This action today shows that all companies need to play their social role and people when they need it most”, says Izabel Reis, director of Azul Cargo Express.
