“Azul played a key role in the development of the E195-E2, actively participating in the aircraft's design specifications, helping Embraer develop the most efficient aircraft on the market for domestic routes,” said John Slattery, President & CEO, Embraer Commercial Aviation . “The importance of having Azul on board the E2 Program and now as the first operator can be summed up in two words: partnership and trust.”
Currently, the Brazilian airline has a total of 77 E-Jets in service. Azul's E195-E2 jets will have a comfortable 130-seat single-class configuration, with the aircraft entering into service in the first half of 2019.
The E-Jets E2 has 275 firm orders, plus letters of intent, options and purchase rights covering a further 415 aircraft, totaling 690 commitments from airlines and leasing companies.
