B-1B Lancer bombers to be deployed to base in Norway for the first time

B-1B Lancer bombers based at Dyess Air Force Base, Texas, will be deployed for the first time to Ørland Air Station in central Norway. USAF strategic and supersonic bombers will head to the European country in the coming weeks.

In all, about 200 military personnel will land in Norway and will undergo a prevention process against COVID-19.

“Operational readiness and our ability to Allies and partners and respond quickly are critical to t success”, said General Jeff Harrigian, commander of US Air Forces in Europe and Africa.

However, this is not the first time that B-1B Lancer bombers have operating in the Ørland region, however, on other occasions the aircraft made a return flight, that is, they did not land at the Norwegian station.

The Air Station of Ørland is important from a strategic point of view, in this base are operated the RNoAF F-35A fighters, as well as AWACS E-3A aircraft.
