Bill 4257/21 makes it mandatory to inspect checked baggage on domestic flights as of August 2023.
In addition, the text under analysis in the Chamber of Deputies inserts into federal law the guidelines that today are contained in a regulation prepared by the National Civil Aviation Agency (Anac).
Currently, the Civil Aviation Security Directive against Acts of Unlawful Interference (davsec) defines the Brazilian aerodromes where the inspection of checked baggage on domestic flights will be mandatory. As a security measure, the list of these aerodromes is classified by ANAC as confidential information.
“To the extent that international relations become intense and Brazil is inserted in the chessboard of nations, the more the country becomes a target for external terrorist threats”, said the author of the proposal, deputy Sanderson (PSL-RS).
“You can’t neglect internal threats either”, he continued, in defending the changes.
Conduct
The project is underway in conclusiveness and will be analyzed by the Road and Transport commissions; and Constitution and Justice and Citizenship.
