The Blue Angles team received its first F/A-27 Super Hornet yesterday, the 18th, which will equip the team for years to come.
The new aircraft landed at Naval Air Force Base in Pensacola, Florida, home of the Blue Angels team. In command of the fighter was captain, Eric Doyle, director of the Blue Angels' Super Hornet transition team.
The fighter took off from Boeing's Cecil plant in Jacksonville, Florida. Where it was modified by removing non-essential weights, introducing the smoke system, and painting the fighter.

The Blue Angels hope to make the transition from the current F/A-18 Hornet to the new Super Hornet later this year, as the team still has performances scheduled for September and October.
With the conclusion of the introduction of the Super Hornet, a 34-year cycle of use of the F/A-18 Hornet fighter will come to an end.
However, it is not just the new fighters that will be new to the team, the team is already preparing to receive the his new C-130J “Fat Albert”.
