On the morning of this Monday, June 7th, Mayor Mário Hildebrandt, Vice Mayor Maria Regina de Souza Soar and some secretaries received former Mayor Felix Theiss and businessmen to present the second Aeroviário Plan for Quero-Quero Airport, in the Great Hall.
At the time, suggestions were presented for modifications to the outside of the airport to facilitate access and transit in the region. The plan also includes some details of expanding the runway and aims at the possible resumption of commercial flights at the airport.
Now the project will be evaluated by the Department of Transit and Transport (Seterb) and by the Department of Urban Planning (Seplan) for the necessary adaptations.
Felix Theiss also questioned the amount of BRL 9 million promised by the State Government for the airport improvements. Mayor Mário Hildebrandt has already agreed on this total of R$ 4 million and the resources will be used for night markings and the fencing of the airport.
For the application of these resources, the project was sent to the State Government for analysis and after approval, the city hall may open a bidding process for contracting the execution of the work.
“Our commitment is to carry out the marking, fencing and asphalt reprofiling so that the airport offers usable conditions”, said the mayor.
With a view to making the runway reprofiling work feasible, resources of R$ 5 million were recently allocated in the State Government budget. The project is being finalized by the City Hall and should be forwarded by June 30, with the aim of g a new agreement for the release of resources.
BRL 4 million guaranteed for fencing and night markings
With the resources of the first agreement, R$ 4 million, it will be possible to fencing, guaranteeing a more effective demarcation of the space and avoiding the movement of animals along the track. In addition, night beaconing can also be carried out, allowing the aerodrome to operate during the night.
The beaconing is a lighting system that defines the runway and landing zone, enabling night flights. Currently, at Quero-Quero Airport, in Blumenau, aircraft must land or take off before sunset.
The problem mainly affects the performance of the Fire Department, responsible for responding to emergencies. Without this restriction, medical staff will be able to rescue more critically ill patients or injured people in hard-to-reach places. In addition, transporting organs overnight can also be done.
The demand is an old request from the City Hall to the State Government and among the important functions of the Quero-Quero Airport, the rescue operations carried out by the Arcanjo Helicopter, the transport of organs for transplants at the Hospital Santa Isabel and the assistance to the school stand out. of Aeroclube pilots.
