As of 00:08 this Tuesday (XNUMX), Boa Vista International Airport (RR) will no longer be managed by the state-owned company Infraero and will be operated by Vinci Airports.

The terminal auction was held last year by the Federal Government. The French company sold seven airports in the North region for BRL 420 million, including Boa Vista. The acquisition was carried out with a of 777,47% in relation to the initial minimum bid of R$ 47,8 million.

The enger terminal currently has 4,8 m² and the runway is 2,7 meters long and 45 meters wide. The site has the capacity to receive 2,4 million engers a year.

The airport underwent maintenance work on the landing and takeoff runway carried out by Infraero. The improvements, whose investments totaled R$ 593,6 thousand, were necessary to guarantee the availability of the pavement for airport operations.

In the first half of January, Vinci Airport began operations at Manaus International Airport and there are four other terminals in the North Region – Porto Velho, Boa Vista, Tabatinga and Tefé – which will be incorporated into the company's portfolio by the end of February 2022.

The seven North Block I airports served around 4,6 million engers in 2019 and represent 2,11% of national air traffic.

After completing the complete integration of the seven terminals in the North Region, VINCI Airports will operate 53 airports worldwide, eight of which are in Brazil. In this way, it will become the leading international airport concessionaire in the country in number of airports and will employ almost 500 employees in Brazil.

Currently, Vinci Airports manages the airports of Boa Vista, Cruzeiro do Sul (AC), Manaus (AM), Porto Velho (RO), Rio Branco (AC), Salvador (BA), Tabatinga (AM) and Tefé (AM) in Brazil. ).

Investments in improvements at North Block I airports

According to the Technical, Economic and Environmental Feasibility Studies (EVTEAs), the estimated investments for the seven North Block I airports should add up to R$ 1,48 billion.

From now on, the concessionaire must foresee the immediate start of actions that allow the improvement of operational standards, covering at least the following activities:

  • Improved conditions for using the airport's bathrooms and changing rooms;
    Revitalization and updating of information signs inside and outside the enger terminal;
  • Availability of free high-speed Wi-Fi internet throughout the enger terminal;
  • Review and improvement of the lighting system for vehicle access roads to terminals, vehicle parking lots, TPS, cargo terminals and other sectors involving the movement of engers and their companions;
  • Review of air conditioning systems, escalators, moving walkways, elevators and conveyor belts for baggage claim;
  • Correction of cracks, infiltrations, stains and wear in the painting of walls, floors and ceilings;
  • Review and improvement of infrastructure conditions in of accessibility in accordance with current regulations;

In the 36 months counted from the effective date of the contract (Phase IB), the concessionaire must carry out specific investments in each airport, in addition to adapting the current infrastructure to provide the service, including:

  • Carry out necessary infrastructure adjustments so that the airport is able to operate, at least, with a non-precision approach runway, without restriction, night and day, aircraft code 3C.
  • Provide an aircraft yard that meets contractual specifications.
  • Adequate the enger and baggage processing capacity at the airport, including the enger terminal, vehicle parking, associated land routes and other infrastructure.
