A chartered cargo flight, carried out with a special Terra Avia Boeing 747 (ER-TRV), was carried out last September 17th to transport eight cheetahs from Namibia (Africa) to the Indian Air Force Station in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh .

The special cargo made up of wild animals was carried out to reintroduce the big cats into the local nature, after being extinct from the site in the last decade.

After the necessary formalities, including paperwork, in Gwalior, the cheetahs that were donated by Namibia will be flown to Palpur village in Sheopur district in two helicopters, including a Chinook. Their final destination is Kuno National Park (KNP).

The great highlight of transport is the complexity of taking live and wild animals aboard an aircraft, with extensive veterinary monitoring throughout the journey, from the first care, through boarding, transport and disembarkation in a new climate and territory.

In the video below, we can see that the Cheetahs were accommodated in special boxes, big enough for the flying period, and fixed to the floor of the plane with the aid of straps.

The project is the first intercontinental translocation of cheetahs, the world's fastest land animal, according to the Indian High Commissioner for Namibia, Prashant Agrawal.

The Boeing 747 used is also themed, with the nose stamped with a stylized tiger, as in the photo featured in this article, although the painting is not dedicated exclusively to this transport.
