Boeing completed the initial flight of the new configuration and delivered the first MH-47G Chinook  to the US Army Special Operations Aviation Command on September 29, 2014 – one month ahead of schedule.

According to Steve Parker, Vice President, Cargo Helicopters & H-47 Program Manager, the advanced technology inherent in the new MH-47G construction ensures that s and operators will have the superior mission capability they demand. A new chapter also begins that will see the Chinook continue for decades to come and demonstrates the commitment of Boeing and the Chinook team to deliver on time.

The new build of the MH-47G configuration incorporates a number of production improvements including the advanced, more robust digital flight control system, improved monolithic frame machining, and better air transportability. The entire program cost approximately US$300 million and expects to deliver eight aircraft by 2015.
