According to the American manufacturer, the market will need 790 thousand new pilots in the next 20 years, that is, until 2037. This represents twice as many pilots currently active, and the best demand estimated by the company in the last nine years.

“Despite strong growth in global air traffic, the aviation industry continues to face a pilot labor supply challenge, raising concerns about a pilot shortage globally in the near term”, said Keith Cooper, vice president of Training and Professional Services for Boeing Global Services.

Boeing's goal is to foster this demand through the creation of new training centers, including partnerships with several aviation schools around the world, as a way to assist the company's customers in operating their aircraft.

The executive aviation sector alone will need 155 new pilots.

And for mechanics?

Despite the greater demand for pilots, the market for maintenance technicians had a retracted demand, starting from an estimate of 648 thousand pilots in the next 20 years to 622 thousand pilots.

The executive aviation sector alone will need 132 new technicians.

According to Boeing, the current lower demand is due to improvements incorporated in the new generation aircraft, which reduce the period between the traditional “checks” maintenance.

Flight attendants

As well as the demand for pilots, in the cabin crew market, Boeing estimated a good amount of new professionals.

This market will need 858 new crew over the next 20 years, it is worth mentioning that in the executive aviation market the demand is very weak, needing only 32 crew .
