Boeing is willing to produce the 777-X cargo before the 777-8

Boeing

During the Dubai Airshow, Boeing showed the world that it will bet heavily on the new variant of the 777 against the Airbus A350. In this sense, the North American manufacturer is considering bringing forward the cargo version of the 777-X instead of the 777-8.

As published on the Simple Flying website, Boeing executives in Dubai heard from important customers the interest in acquiring the cargo version of the 777-X, including the Lufthansa, Emirates and the Qatar Airways.

With the first formal orders already announced by Airbus for the A350F, Boeing now needs to have a product that responds to the height to maintain its hegemony in the cargo market.

Airbus, on the other hand, bets its chips with customers who may not wait for the completion of the 777-X program, or who need more urgently to renew their cargo fleets.

With this, Boeing can anticipate the launch of the 777X-F in place of the 777-8, a version with greater autonomy, aiming at more orders for the 777-X.

With the end of production of the 747-F approaching, the 777-X should be Boeing's flagship in its cargo aircraft production, even though the 767-300F is in production.

However, the 777X-F could directly replace the 747-400F and MD-11F freighters, and more in the future, the 747-8F, depending on the airline.

Currently, Boeing markets the 777 Classic as a freighter, based on the 777-200LR. In addition, other companies are also working on converting the 777-300ER to a freighter.

Despite rumors about a cargo version, Boeing has yet to say when it will launch a cargo version for the 777-X.
