The inter-ministerial action, called Operation Repatriation, takes place in an integrated manner between the Justice and Public Security (MJSP), Defense (MD), Foreign Affairs (MRE), Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (MAPA), Health ( MS) and Infrastructure (MINFRA). On the occasion, the presence of the President of the Republic, Jair Bolsonaro, and ministers is expected.

Brazilians and foreigners from Ukraine return to Brazil on two FAB aircraft, a KC-390 Millennium and a VC-99B Legacy. Upon disembarking, they will receive from the Federal Government all the necessary to return safely to their homes.

KC-390 FAB Ukraine

The VC-99B Legacy aircraft transported Brazilian authorities to Poland, and on the way back it is being used to transport refugees in delicate health situations. There are 68 engers, including 42 Brazilians, 20 Ukrainians, five Argentineans, and one Colombian. Eight dogs and two cats were also shipped.

Around 15 military personnel make up the crew of the Embraer KC-390, which also carried 11 tons of humanitarian aid to Ukraine.

According to the FAB, the humanitarian aid sent to Warsaw contains 50 water purifiers, of national technology and manufacturing (with a combined capacity to purify around 300 liters of water per day); 50 voltaic kits with solar to supply the equipment with energy autonomously; ten tons of dehydrated foods with a high nutritional content (400 meals); and five medicine kits for medical emergencies, coming from public stocks managed by the Ministry of Health, without compromising the national supply.

The KC-390 aircraft

Manufactured by Embraer in partnership with the FAB, the KC-390 Millennium is a multi-mission tactical freighter, capable of transporting 80 soldiers or up to 26 tons of cargo. The first flight of a KC-390 took place in February 2015 and the FAB received its first aircraft in 2019.

Initially, 28 aircraft were contracted, but budgetary restrictions forced the FAB to unilaterally reduce the contract. After negotiations with Embraer, the two parties reached an agreement and the order was reduced to 22 aircraft.
