Bombardier has announced that it will lay off around 7 employees worldwide, with 1350 in the UK alone. The measure was taken by the manufacturer to further cut the cost of employees, the company estimates that half of the amount will be dismissed later this year, and in 2017 it will finalize the process with the dismissal of another half of the proposed staff.

Bombardier has said that with this headcount restructuring it will be able to save up to $300 million over the years. At the end of 2015, Bombardier ed around 70900 people hired in all the countries where it operates.

In the presentation of its 2015 balance sheet, a 16% drop in Bombardier's revenues was announced, when compared to the previous year, a large part of which is due to the drop in orders and deliveries, in addition to the additional cost that the CSeries program required to continue. In October last year, the Government of Quebec invested 1 billion dollars in the CSeries project, according to Bombardier at the time, such amount would be necessary to finalize the last stages of CS100 and CS300 certification.
