Bombardier has received an order for 10 new Challenger 350 executive jets, one of the biggest orders of the year, for the manufacturer that is currently experiencing some difficulties.
The customer for the US$ 267 million order was not revealed by Bombardier, however, the manufacturer celebrated the completion of the order.
“This order highlights the enormous value customers place on the unrivaled capabilities of our aircraft”, said the company's chief executive, Eric Martel.
The Challenger 650 was launched in May 2013, the ten-seat plane is the second version of the Challenger 300, which Bombardier launched in 1999, with several design updates and more fuel-efficient engines.
The Challenger 350 is powered by two Honeywell HTF7350 engines, with about 7300 lbs of thrust (each). The aircraft has a maximum takeoff weight of 18.430kg, while the maximum range with eight engers and two crew is 5920km at a speed of Mach 0,8.
Tech-savvy the plane features full Collins Aerospace avionics, including HUD displays with Vision EVS technology, for increased operational awareness and safety.
To take a Challenger 350, the customer needs to disburse around US$ 27 million, but the amount varies according to the options chosen at the time of purchase.
Currently, the Challenger 350 competes directly with the Embraer Praetor 600 and the Citation Longitude, from Cessna.
