British Airways starts commercial flights with the A350-1000

This Monday (05/08) British Airways started flights between London and Madrid with the Airbus A350-1000, thus inaugurating its new aircraft.

The aircraft took off at 13:18 from London, with an estimated take-off weight of 194,4 tonnes, including a relatively light payload of around 20t. The A350-1000s has a maximum takeoff weight of 308 tonnes.

This August, the aircraft will continue to carry out two daily flights between London and Madrid, for training the company's crew.

The first British Airways A350-1000 should start flying between Heathrow (London) and Dubai on September 02, with flights departing at 12:50 pm and landing in Dubai at 23:05 pm.

In the second phase, starting October 1, 2019, the aircraft will start flying on long-haul routes. During this period, another three A350-1000 aircraft will the British Airways fleet.

British Airways has ordered 18 aircraft of this model, and plans to use this aircraft, along with the 777X, to replace the Boeing 747-400.
