GE Aerospace and the Cargolux entered into a new long-term contract to the GE9X engines for Cargolux's new Boeing 777-8 freighter fleet. The contract includes a multi-year GE TrueChoice service contract, as well as an order for two spare engines.
The extension of TrueChoice services was also agreed to for Cargolux's Boeing 747-8F fleet equipped with GEnx-2B engines. In October last year, Cargolux unveiled plans to replace its aging 747-400 freighter fleet when it announced an order for 10 Boeing 777-8F aircraft.
“Cargolux is committed to investing in fuel-efficient engines that emit significantly less CO2,” said Richard Forson, President and CEO of Cargolux. "GE's newest engine, the GE9X offers the latest technology that helps our airline increase sustainability and increase operational efficiency," concluded the executive.
The GE9X is the most powerful commercial aircraft engine in history and the quietest GE Aerospace engine ever produced (pounds of thrust per decibel). Offering the lowest NOx emissions in its class.
Cargolux was the launch customer for the GEnx-2B and became the first operator in the world to fly one million hours with the engine. Compared to GE's CF6 engine, the GEnx engine offers up to 15% more fuel efficiency. Like all GE commercial engines, both the GE9X and GEnx are compatible with any approved blend of sustainable aviation fuel and regular aviation kerosene.
The TrueChoice engine maintenance suite incorporates a variety of GE features and customizations throughout an engine's lifecycle. All TrueChoice offerings are underpinned by GE data, analytics and experience capabilities to help reduce the burden of maintenance and service continuity for customers.
