Cargolux expands cargo flights between Viracopos Airport and Europe

Viracopos International Airport, in Campinas (SP), will have a new cargo flight frequency from March 31, increasing to 208 the number of regular international flights per week (inbound and outbound) from the aerodrome, operated by 13 airlines.

The new frequency will be operated by the airline Cargolux, which confirmed that the operation will also take place on Mondays, connecting Luxembourg, in Europe, to the Viracopos Cargo Terminal.

Cargolux already operates regular flights on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays. The inclusion of a frequency also on Mondays indicates the increase in demand for cargo between Brazil, Europe and Asia.

“The new frequency connecting Viracopos to Europe benefits the pharmaceutical, automotive, metal-mechanic, technology, fashion and aeronautical segments, but opens up opportunities for other segments,” said Viracopos’ Commercial Cargo Manager, Marina Giffu.

In addition to regular cargo flights, Viracopos has also seen an increase in extra flights (charters) in recent months. “In 2024, Viracopos received, in addition to regular flights, 140 extra international cargo flights (charters), with more than 7.000 tons each, coming from Europe, the United States and Mexico, in response to increased market demand,” added Commercial Cargo Manager Marina Giffu.
