This Monday (22), CCR Aeroportos, the concessionaire that manages Palmas Airport, delivered the work provided for in the concession contract signed with the Federal Government, which included an investment of R$36 million.
The work, completed four months ahead of schedule, aims to increase operational safety and provide a more comfortable and modern environment for engers. The work included the complete renovation of the enger Terminal, improvements to runway drainage and signage, lighting of the Apron of Aircraft, adequacy of the apron signage to accommodate five positions of code C aircraft (such as an Airbus A320, for example), adequacy of the marking of the Landing and Take-Off Runway, correction of the slope of the prepared strip and construction of RESA (area of exhaust) at the runway threshold.
During the construction phase, more than 260 jobs were created, contributing significantly to the local economy. “There were 346 days of works, carried out according to planning and delivered ahead of schedule, without ing accidents or incidents”, informs the Executive Engineering Manager at CCR Aeroportos, Aline Kurebayashi.
The ceremony to hand over the renovation of Palmas Airport was attended by the Minister of Ports and Airports, Silvio Costa Filho, and the Governor of Tocantins, Wanderlei Barbosa.
Works from North to South
In addition to Palmas, CCR Aeroportos simultaneously carries out infrastructure improvement works at 15 other airports managed by the concessionaire, located in eight states. The total investment is R$1,8 billion, and around 6 direct jobs will be created. The first delivery of the package was to Bacacheri Airport, in early July. The works at all these airports are expected to be completed by the end of 2024. The company contracted to carry out the services is HTB Engenharia e Construção.
Growth in movement
Palmas Airport has been recording constant growth in enger movement. Last year, it received more than 700 engers, representing growth of more than 14% compared to the previous year and setting a new historical record. The airport stands out as one of the few in Brazil to sur the pre-pandemic period, with growth of 22% in 2023 compared to 2019.
From the arrival of CCR Aeroportos in March 2022 until May 2024, more than 1,4 million engers ed through the airport between departures and arrivals, highlighting the potential of the capital of Tocantins and its contribution to the regional economy.
