On Wednesday, November 6, CCR Aeroportos handed over the modernization works of Gustavo Kraemer International Airport in Bagé (BGX). The official handover ceremony took place simultaneously with the handover of Pelotas Airport (PET) and was attended by the Minister of Ports and Airports, Silvio Costa Filho, the Governor of Rio Grande do Sul, Eduardo Leite, and the CEO of CCR Aeroportos, Fabio Russo, among other authorities.
R$43 million was invested to improve infrastructure and provide greater safety for air operations. According to Fabio Russo, the works in operational areas were essential for the terminal.
“Today, we delivered a project that was handled by great professionals, who identified the need for significant changes in Bagé that would be important for the future of this airport. That is what we delivered to this important city,” said Russo.
Among the main improvements made, the following stand out: the adaptation of RESA, which consists of the implementation of escape areas on the runway, in compliance with current legislation; the signage of the aircraft apron, which now accommodates two aircraft, increasing operational capacity; and the new taxiway providing access to the new apron.
When it took over management of the terminal in March 2022, CCR made internal improvements to the enger terminal, such as adjustments to air conditioning, signage and toilets.
Regional advances
Bagé Airport plays an important regional role by receiving general aviation aircraft, including private aircraft, air medical transport and cargo. With the interventions carried out on the airside, the terminal can resume commercial routes.
Michel Silveira, manager of Bagé Airport, highlighted the impact of the works, emphasizing the importance of the airport for the region and the state. “Bagé is a major hub for general aviation, receiving flights from Argentina and Uruguay. Anyone who visits the airport will be able to identify the improvements that will bring greater safety to s, with several impacts on the apron and operational areas,” he said.
The works generated 310 new jobs and the works were completed in 400 days. “These are impressive numbers, which were unthinkable before the arrival of CCR Aeroportos. This is certainly a new era for the city and the airport community,” he concluded.
Works throughout Brazil
In addition to Bagé, CCR Aeroportos is simultaneously carrying out infrastructure improvement works at 15 other airports managed by the concessionaire, located in eight states. The total investment is R$1,8 billion, and approximately 6 direct jobs have been created. The first deliveries under this package were the airports of Bacacheri and Palmas, both in July; Petrolina Airport, in August; Goiânia and Imperatriz Airports, in October; and Pelotas Airport, in November. The company contracted to perform the services is HTB Engenharia e Construção.
